Skyway Hires Veteran Banker Kenneth P. Cherven

Skyway is pleased to announce that Mr. Kenneth Cherven has joined its investment banking team as a Managing Director based in the Tampa Office, working with companies to access growth capital or sell their businesses.

Cherven, a lifelong resident of Pinellas County, has over thirty-five years of banking experience in the Tampa Bay area.  He has been President/CEO of Gulf Bank of Dunedin, Premier Community Bank, First Community Bank of America and lastly, President of the Pinellas region of The Bank of Tampa.

“I have known Ken for over 20 years and his experience as a leader in delivering financial services to key relationships with middle market businesses will serve the firm well as we continue to grow,” remarked Skyway CEO Russ Hunt.

During his banking career, Mr. Cherven served as National President of the American Institute of Banking and was named 2008 Banker of the Year in Florida by his peers. Mr. Cherven has also served as an adjunct professor at the Florida School of Banking at UF and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.

Mr. Cherven earned a B.S. in Business Finance from Florida Southern College and an MBA from the University of Tampa. He also served over twenty-five years as a Director and President of St. Petersburg College Foundation where he was recently named Director Emeritus.
